Mannie Schumpert

He was there for SideWalk Chalk’s very first book publishing workshop, and he hasn’t slowed down one bit. Whether he’s taking pictures of kids for author bios, documenting events and fund raisers, or (this month) building a website, we know that the results are going to be phenomenal. When it comes to creativity and talent, Mannie sets the bar.

Here are a few things we think you should know about Mannie-
Musical instruments he plays: All of them.
Photographs he takes: Really good ones.
Films he loves: The slow ones that a lot of people don’t understand.

Here are a few things Mannie thinks you should know about Mannie-
Why he started volunteering with SideWalk Chalk, and why he’s still around: Well really, I started because I love and respect the people involved and knew that anything they were so passionate about was something deserving of my passion. And I still do it because I’ve seen first hand the joy it brings to the kids.

His favorite project he’s been a part of: I had a lot of fun making the “By the Letter” website, because I got to play a bit and add some whimsy to the design, but possibly a brighter highlight was photographing one of the writing workshops at Mitchell, because the kids are just so beautiful and full of life.

A favorite elementary school memory: One of my favorite things in elementary school was the Book Fair and visiting the Edgar Allen Poe Library (on Sullivan’s Island), and the most memorable book from my childhood was Boy’s Life by Robert McCammon.

What he’s reading now: I just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, and it was delightful, but I haven’t picked my next book yet! It’ll either be something by Vonnegut or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which is waiting for me on my Kindle.

Which one do you think he should go for? Connect with him to let him know.
